In 2012 SCID, together with support from Campaign for Freedom of Information Scotland, commissioned research into Access in Europe by a bereaved family to information gathered during an investigation into a fatal road collision. One of the recommendations in the report was the establishment of an independent multi disciplinary team to investigate all road crashes.
On 7th May 2013 the Justice Committee at the Scottish Parliament took evidence on the findings of the report which can be found at Scottish Parliament Report
Now in 2021 the Transport Department at Westminster have launched a consultation– To seek views on the creation of a dedicated body to investigate the causes of road traffic collisions
