Road Safety Day in Arran

Road safety on Arran

In July 2010, Alan and Joyce Beasley took part in a Road Safety Day on the Isle of Arran on behalf of SCID. The event was organised by Liz Brady, Strathclyde Fire Brigade’s safety co-ordinator and brought together the emergency services and K A Leisure in an effort to educate the local community about keeping safe on the roads.

In recent years Arran has had a higher than average number of fatal road collisions.

Alan said it was an opportunity to promote the work of SCID and to raise awareness of the devastating effects of road collisions. While many of those who attended were young children who enjoyed the freedom to climb on board the fire engine and police Land Rover and at the same time learn about the dangers on the roads, it was also an opportunity to speak to the adults who accompanied them.

Thank you
